Jennifer Justice,

CEO and Founder, The Justice Dept.

also known as JJ, is an entertainment and live experience executive known for her expertise in building artists’ careers and business portfolios by marrying art with commerce.

JJ made her mark as an entertainment attorney at Carroll, Guido and Groffman LLP where she was made partner in only 3 years. With a roster of clients that included Jay-Z, Outkast, Slipknot and Mark Ronson, and having negotiated massive joint venture agreements including the partnerships of Jay-Z and Roc Nation with Live Nation, JJ parlayed her experience to join Jay-Z to build Roc Nation in 2010.

As General Counsel and EVP at Roc Nation, JJ helped structure the vision and growth of Roc Nation and oversaw the expansion of Roc Nation’s portfolio offering to include TV, film, branding, sports and media entertainment. She served on the board of Roc Nation’s joint venture companies Three Six Media and Steam Engine, aided the creation of major strategic partnerships including Stance, Skullcandy, Puma, and Budweiser and served as Jay-Z’s personal entertainment attorney for a total of 17 years as well as Beyonce’s personal attorney for one year while at Roc Nation.

JJ joined Superfly in 2016 as the President of Corporate Development, a role created for her to expand the portfolio of the then 17 year old live experience company. During her three year tenure, Superfly doubled their ownership of live experiences, increased revenues by double digits and raised another round of financing

From the beginning of her career, JJ has championed gender equality & diversity in the workplace and serves on many boards with the same initiatives including at Chair of the WIE Network Advisory Board, a founding advisory board member of USC’s Annenberg Inclusion Initiative and on the board of the innovative domestic violence organization, Freefrom. In addition, JJ serves on the board of Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment and on the board of One Hope Wines.

JJ has been featured in Pollstar, in Marie Claire as one of seven women featured in the music industry, has been named to Billboard women in power list three times and has been honored by TJ Martell as a Woman of Influence.

 

Julie Potash Slavin

Management, The Justice Dept. 

Julie Potash Slavin aka "Hesta Prynn" is a manager, talent curator, event programmer as well as a go-to DJ for a blue-chip client list with an emphasis on all things tech and female focused. Her work with brands like Spotify, Google, Twitter, AT&T, Medialink, Amazon and Morgan Stanley has made her and her clients a regular presence at global leadership summits. She is a frequent guest on Sirius XM Radio, and has been featured in numerous fashion campaigns and television commercials, including the Twitter ad that ran during the Oscars which AdAge called “a nod to #TimesUp and #MeToo.” Julie manages talent on The Justice Dept roster that are defining culture and building businesses on their own terms.  She also currently acts as musical director for a number of companies and retail spaces and produces live events and television programs which feature many of The Justice Dept clients. 

She got her start in music and entertainment as a performer in the Columbia Records female trio Northern State, touring with some of the biggest names in entertainment and attracting the attention of Questlove, drummer for The Roots and musical director of The Tonight Show, who taught her to spin vinyl. It was here that Julie realized how women in entertainment were not catered to by their male managers the same way that a female would understand their needs.  

Julie is also known for her encyclopedic knowledge of musical genres and her career of “firsts”, breaking down barriers and existing in spaces traditionally reserved for men.
